Wes's tip

Venir or ir?

Spanish uses venir only for movement towards where the speaker is: ¡ven aquí! (come here!). Moving away, or towards the listener, is ir: ¡ya voy! (I'm coming!, literally "I'm going"). So when someone calls you, answer ¡voy!, not "vengo".
