Who runs this site and what I do with your data, in plain English. Short version: I only collect what I need, I never sell it, and you can ask me to delete it anytime.

Who runs this site

This website, spanishwithwes.com, is run by MELLER WORLDWIDE (trading as Spanish with Wes!), a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands. I'm responsible for your personal data on this site (the "data controller", in GDPR terms). These are the business details:

What I collect and why

I only collect data when there's a clear reason for it. Here's everything, in one overview:

Payment details like your card number never reach me: payments are handled by the payment provider.

Stored only on your device

When you tick off lessons in the free course, that progress is saved in your own browser (local storage). It never gets sent to me, and it disappears if you clear your browser data.

YouTube videos only load when you press play. Until then, YouTube gets no data from you. Once a video plays, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Who I share it with

I never sell your data. I only work with a few trusted services that help me run the site. They may only use your data on my behalf:

  • MailerLite (Lithuania, EU): sends the emails and keeps the mailing list.
  • Google (Analytics, AdSense, YouTube): statistics, ads and videos.
  • Strato (Germany, EU): the servers this website runs on.
  • Payment / course platform: once the paid courses are live, the company that handles payments and course access will be listed here.

Some of these companies are based in the US. Data sent there is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU's standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

Cookies for statistics and ads are only placed after you say yes in the cookie banner. You can change your choice anytime via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. All details are in the cookie policy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can always ask me to:

Just email info@spanishwithwes.com. I'll reply within a month. Not happy with my answer? You can file a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Keeping it safe

The site uses a secure connection (https), only I have access to the admin, and the services I use are GDPR compliant. No system is 100% secure, but I do what's reasonable to protect your data.

Under 16?

Everyone can watch the free lessons. But to sign up for emails, you need to be 16 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your data, I'll update this page and the date at the top. Big changes, I'll also mention in an email.
