Contractions in Spanish

Spanish contractions (las contracciones) are special words formed by combining two smaller words into one, and the good news is that Spanish only has two mandatory contractions — al (a + el) and del (de + el) — so they are quick and easy to learn, yet you will use them constantly when speaking and writing Spanish.

In this lesson, we will learn how the contraction al (to the) is formed by combining the preposition a with the article el (voy al parque – I go to the park), and how del (of the / from the) is formed by combining the preposition de with the article el (vengo del trabajo – I come from work). We will also cover when these contractions are required and the few cases where they don’t apply.

Prepositions in Spanish (pt. 2)

In this lesson, we go over the ‘Prepositions’ of the Spanish language. Spanish prepositions (las preposiciones) are small but powerful words that connect ideas, show location, direction, time, and relationships between words, so you will use them constantly when speaking and writing Spanish.

These Prepositions lessons consist of multiple parts, in which we will learn around 10 to 15 common Spanish prepositions each time per lesson. You will master essential prepositions like a (to), de (of/from), en (in/on), con (with), por and para (for), sin (without), sobre (about/on), entre (between), and many more.

Make sure to learn these Spanish prepositions, because they are the glue that holds sentences together and you will use them in almost every phrase you speak!

Ways of Transportation (vocabulary lesson) (pt. 2)

In this lesson, we continue with ‘Ways of Transportation’ in Spanish (part 2).
